Reconstructive Oculoplastic Surgery
Oculoplastic surgery is a highly specialized form of surgery focusing on procedures of the eyelids, face, orbit (eye socket), and lacrimal system (tear ducts). It encompasses a wide range of procedures from cosmetic to reconstructive and from non-surgical to surgical and microsurgical. Common conditions treated by oculoplastic surgeons include drooping eyelids and brows, eyelid malpositions, orbital fractures, eyelid lacerations, blocked tear ducts, skin cancer, ocular surface cancer, orbital tumors, and thyroid eye disease.
Dr. Richard, Dr. Segal, and Dr. Neigel are amongst a small group of meticulously trained board-certified ophthalmologists who have completed additional years of fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery through the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). There are only approximately 20 surgeons trained in oculoplastic surgery each year in the U.S.
